On December 26th, 2012, Urban Dictionary user Whidmark submitted an entry for 'Chungus', defining it as a word 'meaning anything and everything, including but not limited to a chunky anus'. The exact date when the word was first used is currently unknown, but is estimated to be prior to December 2012.

The word 'chungus' was allegedly coined by English freelance video game journalist Jim Sterling, who would often use it in various meanings without a set definition.
